The Wits Students’ Surgical Society provides its members with the unique opportunity to engage with world-renowned surgeons on a more personal level through numerous round table discussions throughout the year.
The discussions are limited to a smaller group of participants, allowing everyone the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the surgeon. Some discussions are centered around a particular topic, such as the surgeon’s field of research, while others are more open ended.
In 2016 alone, the society has hosted some incredible figures in the field of surgery such as:
- Prof. Dileep Lobo – Consultant Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgeon at Queen’s Medical Centre, UK
- Prof. Ken Boffard – Secretary General of the International Society of Surgery
- Prof. Martin Veller – Vascular Surgeon & Dean of Health Sciences at the University of the Witswatersrand
- Prof. Georges Azzie – Associate Professor at the University of Toronto
Discussions last about 60 minutes and refreshments are served thereafter, allowing for a further networking opportunity.
We urge students to take advantage of this incredible opportunity by attending our next Round Table Discussion.
